Designing Food Systems for Temporary Urban Events 2026

Jan 26–Jan 30, 2026 – This Winter School explores the intersection of urban food systems and temporary large-scale events.
Students will be introduced to the complexity of Milan’s food ecosystem, covering topics such as urban food policy, food surplus management, and short food supply chains. Through a transdisciplinary design lens, the program investigates how spatial and service design can contribute to more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient food solutions during major temporary events.

Special attention will be given to informal food consumption spaces, city users, and tourists, as well as the strategic use and optimization of public space. Participants will engage in lectures, field visits, and hands-on project work.
